On Friday 4.2.11, IBC junior BEN TURNER (13yrs) saw action at the Ruislip & District ABC show which was held at the Trailfinders Sports Club in West Ealing.
In a 56kg contest, BEN met SPENCER BUTCHER of Ruislip in a very entertaining bout which saw SPENCER get off to a good start as he initiated the attacks early on in an effort to establish the lead. BEN kept a tight guard and allowed BUTCHER to ‘let off a bit of steam’ before forcing the Ruislip boxer on to the back foot as it became evident that TURNER was the stronger of the two.

In the 2nd round, BUTCHER again made a good start only to be quickly repelled by BEN’S superior workrate as the Islington boxer pressed forward to keep his opponent on the defensive for most of the time.

In the 3rd round, the two boys met head-on in the centre of the ring and it was a real crowd pleaser as they both worked tremendously hard to gain the upper hand. It wasn’t long before SPENCER began to tire from his efforts but BEN seemed to go into overdrive as he picked up the pace even more for a storming finish which saw both boxers get a standing ovation from the crowd.

The judges awarded TURNER a unanimous decision which he fully deserved for such an impressive display of strength & stamina.
