On Saturday 26.2.11, 14yr old PATRICK WARD (46kg) was in action on the Fitzroy Lodge ABC show which was held at the Earlsfield gym in Wandsworth.

PAT’S opponent was YUSUF JAVAD of Earlsfield ABC in another all action encounter which saw YUSUF make a very fast start as he initiated the early attacks in an effort to take the lead. WARD adopted his usual tight defence and picked his shots carefully as JAVAD advanced and there wasn’t much separating the two.

The pattern was similar throughout the 3 rounds with YUSUF advancing and PATRICK countering well with some good solid single shots mixed with some rapid combinations. It was an exhausting contest as the pace was set with a high workrate coming from JAVAD and WARD having to ‘dig deep’ in order to stay with him. At the end the judges awarded the majority points decision to JAVAD.
