On Thursday 26.1.12, junior debutant, 11yr old CHRISTY McCARTHY  (35kg) saw action on the Edmonton Eagles show held at the Haringey Irish Centre in Tottenham. He was up against BILLY BELLFIELD of Rayleigh ABC in a lively encounter.

Round 1 began with McCARTHY coming straight out of the blocks at a furious pace in an effort to dominate the proceedings but BELLFIELD used the generous – sized ring to good advantage as he back-pedalled to keep out of range and keep his composure to fire back at the ever-advancing McCARTHY.

In round 2, CHRISTY’S pace slowed a little bit as he struggled to contain the elusive BELLFIELD. The pattern was similar in the 3rd as CHRISTY persevered but he did not land enough punches to sway the judges and it was BILLY’S night as the points went to the Rayleigh boxer.
